As a club we now have over 100 junior members which we are very proud of, but we have noticed that not many of our members take the next step and choose to represent Werrington Joggers at one of the many local races which take place during the year. To try and encourage more juniors to take part in these races we have decided to run a Junior Club Championship for 2012 which will be run along the same lines as our senior section. In 2011 we trailled this competition for our juniors and it proved very successful. We would like to build on this success and hope more of our members will take part in 2012.
Race 1 = Bourne Frostbite 1- 1 ½ miles (5th February 2012)
Race 2 = Easter Egg race 1.5 mile (2.4k) (Tuesday night at joggers-to be confirmed) April
Race 3 = Eye 3k part of the 3k series (Wednesday evening in June)
Race 4 = Bushfield 3k fun run July 2012
Race 5 = Werrington 3k (Wednesday evening in August)
Race 6 = Great Eastern Run Fun Run 4K 14th October 2012
Race 7 = Bushfield Frostbite 1 - 1 ½ mile (Sunday) November 2012 (to be confirmed)
To qualify for the Club Championship a minimum of 3 of the above races must be completed
Best 4 of 7 races are added together to get the final total
(7 races - minimum of 3 with best 4 from 7 to score)
To make it accessible to all ages we will have age bands and separate prizes for boys and girls from each band
The age bands for Club Championship 2012 are as follows :
Year 4 and 5
Year 6 and 7 1st 2nd and 3rd in each category
Year 8 and 9
Year 10 and 11
The Year Group you are in on 1st January 2012 is the year group you will be in for the whole of 2012 Club Championships.
Membership subscription must be fully paid and up to date on the day of the club championship races to qualify for points from that race and Club Vests must be worn in all events
