Welcome to our Sunday Social Training Runs.

Each quarter a Training Diary is produced detailing races and social training runs on a Sunday.

 

The Sunday runs are graded from A - C, A being up to 10 miles and fairly flat, B over 10 miles and a bit more challenging, C is over 12 miles and/or hilly, mud, etc. We also now offer shorter and/or slower alternatives and walks. Just ask one of the committee the week before.

 

If you have a suggestion for a Sunday run (e.g. a new route) then please contact the Treasurer.

 

 

We are currently compiling maps, route details including directions to the start point, for all of the Sunday Social Runs. Please see below for details.

 

 

Wansford - Woodnewton

Start Point: Wansford, outside the Haycock Hotel (park on road).

Distance: 11.5 miles.

Woodman - Ferry Meadows

Start Point: Woodman Pub Car Park.

Distance: 11.5 miles. This is a good run for anyone new to the Sunday Runs as there are many shorter options available.

Barrowden - Toplodge

Start Point: Barrowden near pub

Distance: 9.7 miles. This is a lowely run for anyone. The loop to Toplodge can be cut out to make a shorter run.

Helpston - Sacrewell

Start Point: Helpston, at the 'Cross' monument. Park on the side roads where you can!

Distance: 15 miles (8 mile option).

Route Details: This route is 70% off-road. From the 'Cross' we head to Ufford and then into Southey Woods before heading to Upton. From Upton we head to Sacrewell Farm and then onto Southorpe. Continue from Southorpe to Ufford before returning to Helpston via Ashton. 

For a shorter option, when leaving Southey Wood head back to Helpston via the road. This will give you an 8 mile run. The full Helpston run is 15 miles, one of the longer Sunday Runs and normally not run in summer.

 

 Nassington - Warmington

Start Point: Nassington, outside the Black Horse Pub. Park on the grass verge where you can!

Nassington - Bedford Purlieus Wood

Start Point: Nassington, outside the Black Horse Pub. Park on the grass verge where you can!

Route Details: North on Station Rd, L Parkway and immediately R Runnel Ln. L at KG, HR X fld. R Northfield, R Reisbrook Ln (BOAT), X Ford, under bridge, L ST then soon R uphill. X Fld, X Fld, L after hedge FP, R after hedge, L KG. HR XF KG to Sulehay Rd. L then R into quarry (Wildlife site), Thru to FP, L to gate at road, R to King's Cliffe Rd. X(care) enter Bedford Purlieus Wood. Continue to 2nd main ride on L with gate. L thru wood to road in wood. X road to FP, XS, HL XF thru hedge, continue XF up hill 1ml. XF, XF to XB to King's Cliffe Road. X (care) R along rd to FP on L. FP thru gate, along F to hedge, L. Follow hedge to FP sign HR XF. Follow hedge to L, R under bridge, L to FP sign HR XF to track, X, XF, XB, XF into wood. At track L past houses & barns along F edge to wood. R on track to Gate at Apethorpe Rd. L along Rd to FP at riding school. Thru G, HR along L of hedge past house to corner. XS, L follow track (not FP), R, L to X track, HR down hill to Woodnewton Rd. L along Rd to FP on R before houses. Follow to KG, HR, XB, L along field edge to Gate, continue X sports field (keep L), X car park, down track to start.
