Tuesday 30th April

Hi, the following article appeared in the last edition of the newsletter. At present I have had one person provide me information. Please don't be shy, this is a good way to make people in the club aware of your business. In this day and age of cowboys it is always good to know of a trusting person. I know there are electrians, painters, decorators, barbers, mechanics, gardeners etc in the club so this will be of interest to you.

Local traders
It was suggested at the AGM in November last year that it would be useful to know if any Joggers ran their own business that other Joggers may not know about, but would want to use e.g. are you a painter and decorator, an electrician, a gardener, a hairdresser etc.
Sometimes we need to use a qualified person e.g. electrician but don't know who to use. Wouldn't it be good if you could pick up the phone and call a fellow Jogger for help?
In the next edition of the newsletter you will have the opportunity to inform other Joggers about your business. Please note this is not an advert, if you want to advertise in the newsletter please see the article elsewhere in the newsletter.
If you would like fellow Joggers to know your trade please provide me with the following information.
1) Your name
2) Name of your business
3) Brief description of your business, this should be no more than 10 words
4) Contact details e.g. phone number, email address

On Saturday 9th March Werrington Joggers will once again be hosting and organising the Peterborough Primary School's relay event from William Law Primary School, Werrington. This popular event is second only to the Primary School XC event in its size and importance on the schools athletic programme during the winter months
I would therefore be very grateful for any help on the day in setting the course up, marshalling and then clearing up afterwards. If you are available to help I'd be grateful if you could let me know so that I can cover all marshalling points and also be grateful if we could meet at William Law School from 9am onwards
The whole event should be over by 12.00 noon
Very many thanks
Tim

No club run on Sunday, Frostbite league race though through Bourne Woods, juniors at 10.15, seniors at 11.00. Open to all, no charge but club vests must be worn. Come along and run for your club, everyone makes a difference as we saw last month when the seniors finished in a great second place in the match

Folksworth 15 has been rearranged for Sunday 10th February, all entries are automatically transferred to the new date with numbers collected on the day. A number of WJ members are now unable to run on the new date therefore if you would like an entry please let Tim know and he'll advise you who to speak to.

Don't forget next week is the second winter head torch run. The plan is to run the "Etton by road" route, which means there are lots of turn backs for people wanting to run a shorter distance and also allows us to all start off in a mass group - so don't forget to bring your light!!

Folkesworth 15 message from Gavin of Yaxley runners

Hi All,

Unfortunately, we have had to take the decision to postpone this years Folksworth 15.

This is not a decision that we have taken lightly and tried everything possible to keep the race on, but at the end of the day, the safety of the runners, marshals and other helpers was paramount.

We will make the decision in the next 3-4 days on whether we can hold the race on another weekend, although at this stage it is looking unlikely due to the busy race calendar.

Many thanks to all that had volunteered their time and help, especially members of other running clubs..

Special thanks also need to go to Claire and Gary who now have the task of letting all runners and helpers alike know that the race is cancelled.

If there are any questions please feel free to let me know

Gavin

Sunday 30th December

Werrington Joggers Presentation Evening
Please can I remind everyone that tickets are still available for the Werrington Joggers Presentation Evening on Friday 11th January at the Parkway Club in Peterborough
Tickets are £10 each and the evening includes the usual buffet and disco, the 2012 club awards and probably the best raffle in Peterborough including many vouchers from Advance Performance
Tickets are available from Tim, Emma or Paul Burgess and will be available at the County XC Champs on Sunday. With only one more club night (the 8th) before the big night, please let us know asap if you'd like tickets, we'll reserve them for you. This greatly helps us with the buffet order
Although this is an adults only event we'd love to see it supported by the parents of our juniors, all the profit from the evening is reinvested back into the club for the benefit of everyone
Many thanks
Tim

Louise Richardson has stepped down as our Team Manager for Track and Field next season. Therefore we need to see if anyone is prepared to take on the role for 2013. Our main commitment is to the Lincs T&F League which is four fixtures over the summer. The dates have yet to be agreed with a fixture meeting due to take place in January.

We also try to promote the County Championships in May, the Open events at the Embankment and the Development meetings at St Ives.
All the events are open to both seniors and juniors, however given our usual modest representation the Team Manager usually covers both senior and junior members
If anyone would be prepared to take on the role for 2013 please could they let Tim, Ian McCrae or Louise Richardson know as soon as possible. Equally if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask any of the three of us
We would be equally delighted if any parent of a junior member might be prepared to help with the role

Sunday 7th October

Following the successful Get Fit 4 the Eastern Programme, at the Embankment Athletic Track this Summer, GPAN (the Greater Peterborough Athletics Network, of which Werrington Joggers is a member) has decided to continue to hire the track on the third Wednesday of every month, starting in October, from 7 - 8pm, for GPAN clubs to experience the benefit of training on an athletics track under floodlights.

Although the hire will be heavily subsidised by both Vivacity and GPAN, as with all GPAN initiatives  introduced for both senior and junior members, we intend to make a nominal charge per session of £1 per person (50p for those U20) payable on the night.
Unlike the Get Fit 4 sessions, it is not intended that any group will undertake a distance run away from the track, it will instead be an opportunity for runners to try track running, following either their own training session or one organised by coaches attending.
These sessions will be for adults only (U17 or older) unless small numbers of Juniors are working specifically with a coach from a GPAN club who is also present to supervise.
Car parking is available free of charge alongside the track in the Bishops Road Car Park. For further information or if you have any enquiries please contact Tim
The first three dates will be 17th October, 21st November and 19th December
