Welcome to the Werrington Joggers track & field page

As a club our members predominantly compete in road races. However, Werrington Joggers also compete in various Track and Field competitions throughout the Summer months and interest from the membership continues to increase, both from Juniors and Seniors.

For the Juniors, it offers an extension to their schools athletics programmes and the chance to test themselves locally and for some regionally and nationally. Summer training is geared towards offering the Juniors the chance to record times and distances for comparison with the ESAA Awards Scheme and improving their performances at track and field.

 For the Seniors it is often a break from the regular road races and a chance to try events that haven't been tried since leaving school.

 

Werrington Joggers - Athletics Season 2012

This year we would like to offer our athletes the opportunity to take part in a number of Athletics leagues and meetings which will enable them to try out new events and distances in a competitive environment.

Lincs League Athletics

1^st, 29^th April, 10^th June and 5^th September at Grantham. For further details see the Lincolnshire athletics association website (http://www.lincsathletics.org.uk/)

This league is ideal for Junior and athletes starting in Track and Field or adults wanting to try out an athletic event for the first time since secondary school. U'11s can compete in 2 events, U13's - U17's can compete in 3. There is no charge for competing as fees are paid for by Werrington Joggers. We will have a team manager present at each event.

Cambs Athletics Assocation Evening Development Open meetings 2012

Cambridgeshire Athletics Association run 3 evening meetings, held at St Ives during the summer allowing athletes to try out new events and improve performance.

Wednesday May 23rd, Wednesday June 20th and Wednesday July 18th.

Cambridgeshire AAA Track and Field Championships

Saturday 12^th May 2012

This is being held at the Peterborough track see the following website http://www.cambsathletics.org.uk/track.asp . This event is open to all athletes who were born or live in Cambridgeshire. Last year an Entry fee of £3.00 for each individual's first event, and £2.50 for each additional event. County medals are awarded for the first three athletes in each discipline/ age group. Last year the closing date was a week before the event. more details to follow.

Lincolnshire AAA Track and Field Championships

Saturday and Sunday 12^th and 13^th May 2012

For all league matches athletes may decide on the day which events to take part in but must let Ian or Louise know that they intend to compete at least 4 days before the event.
